Like Dan McKeaney, thousands of Veterans rely on emergency air transport after serious accidents or health incidents. Dan was in a horrific motorcycle crash, and the swift actions of an air ambulance saved his life. Yet, the VA’s plan to slash reimbursement rates for emergency air medical services threaten to leave Veterans, especially those in rural areas, without this vital lifeline.

Government reimbursement rates have long fallen short of the actual cost of providing air medical care. Further cuts will make this essential service unsustainable, forcing air ambulance bases to close and leaving Veterans in remote areas without access to critical lifesaving care. This crisis is even more dire when coupled with the looming closure of hundreds of rural hospitals.

SOAR is urging the VA to abandon these cuts. Tell Congress to pass the VA Emergency Transportation Act (S.2757/ H.R. 5530) and help ensure that Veterans like Dan McKeaney continue to have access to the emergency transportation they need.
